When we set out to found Parakeet, we were certain that we wanted nothing more than to hone our craft together in perpetuity. The early days were full of experimentation and inquiry as we sought to balance our strengths and develop a unified perspective. A decade later, our creative partnership has solidified into something inextricable from either of us, totally complementary, and greater than the sum.

Of course we’ve grown and developed individually as artists in that time, following our inspirations to explore new styles and subjects. And yet, there is no creative pursuit that either of us embarks on that is not improved by the other. We’ve built a level of trust in each other’s perspectives that allows us to confidently take risks, secure in the sense that if both of us believe the work is great, then we know it’s great.

Our collaborative process has only become more harmonious over the years. With a deep history of shared experiences and visual language to draw from, it doesn’t take much deliberation to understand each other these days. An icon can be passed back and forth between us, gaining subtle and unexpected improvements at every transfer, reaching a level of excellence along the way that’s just slightly beyond what either of us could achieve separately.

It really is very special to us, the reverence we have for each other and for our craft. The curse of being aligned so fully is that nobody on the outside will ever really get it, how special it is. But we know our partnership shines through in everything we create, and we’re so proud of that. Happy 10th Anniversary, Parakeet.
